November 2010 Financial Highlights

$16,388  =  Revenue (Results of rents, coffee, snacks & books)

$18,235  =  Expenses

$  1,847  =  Dry Dock Operating Loss without donations

$  2,745  =  Donations

$     898  =  Surplus (to reserves)

As you can see Donations are CRITICAL to our survival.  These donations are the reason the Dry Dock is in the black.

Revenue from rents, coffee, snacks and books are not enough to keep our doors open.  We need the support of donors who are willing to go the extra mile by donating $10 to $20 on their credit cards each month.  These donations and others guarantee that the Dry Dock will be able to:

Continue our services to the

San Francisco recovering community

(10,000 people per month in over 420 meetings per month)

Our "Friend" medallion was designed to thank those who have come forward with their donations.

We will replace this section in January with a financial summary report for 2010.

These financials will not show the vital work and savings that our volunteers contribute but they have saved us countless thousands in repairs.  I keep saying we have the best volunteers on the planet and the board and I are grateful for their services.

If you have any questions,

please call Sandy at 415-673-4009 or Rich at 415-425-3739.

Matching Funds

This is the time of year that companies match donations made by their employees.  If your company does match funds, consider the Dry Dock as your choice to receive these funds.

Dry Dock Stories: Memories of 2118 Greenwich

The last time I shared my memories of 2118 Greenwich I spoke of what it was like to fly across the country to start a new life.  In the last half of 2008 I thought that I was headed for Florida to retire and then came the offer for a job managing a place called the Dry Dock for the San Francisco recovering community.  I had no idea what I would experience at this Dry Dock but I prayed on that flight that I would be able to serve with grace.

Almost 2 years later, I sit here in total awe of my Higher Power who side tracked me and instead of Florida it was to be San Francisco.  I have said this to many of you, this is not a job, it is not a career, it is my vocation and it is a pleasure to serve you.

I entered AA over 29 years ago and it is only through you that I have been able to maintain sobriety.  That is how it works, we share our experience, strength and hope.  My new San Francisco family has played a major part in my sobriety and I am eternally grateful to all of you.

Love,

Sandy B.

Excerpts from Daily Reflections: December 25

"At Peace With Life"

"Every day is a day when we must carry the vision of God's will into all of our activities.  "How can I best serve Thee - Thy will (not mine) be done.""

Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 85

"I read this passage each morning, to start off my day, because it is a continual reminder to  "practice these principles in all my affairs."  When I keep God's will at the forefront of my mind, I am able to do what I should be doing, and that puts me at peace with life, myself and God"
